Which bank for foreigners? Toss Bank vs KakaoBank vs a big-4 branch
Recent arrival, D-2 student. Need a Korean account for rent and part-time pay. KakaoBank and Toss Bank let you open fully in-app, but I've read some foreigners get rejected without an ARC or a long visa. Big banks (KB, Shinhan, Woori, Hana) need a branch visit but feel more accepted for transfers abroad. What actually worked for you in 2026? Do you need 6+ months on your visa?

Shinhan by my campus opened mine with ARC + enrollment cert. Got the SOL app and a card.

KakaoBank approved me but daily transfer limits are tiny until you verify income.

For sending money home, Wise from a big-bank account beat the bank's own remittance fees.

Update: opened Shinhan today, 40 min. Toss rejected me, under 6 months on D-2. Thanks all!
